SARBAT Community Support Network

SARBAT Community Support Network is a part of The Guru Nanak Satsang Sikh Gurdwara, which has been at the centre of the community since 1966.

Over the years the Gurdwara has grown and now consists of 2 separate buildings with several large halls and rooms which are multifunctional. The Gurdwara also has a large 4.5 acre field adjacent to it.

Several organisations are based at the Gurdwara and work together to provide services for the community; these include the Wolverhampton Council of Sikh Gurdwaras, the Council of Gurdwara Management Committees, Wolverhampton Wrestling Club and the Drug and Alcohol Awareness Network.

All activities are open to the public as a community hub. We promote diversity and inclusion thus integrating the local community. We deliver these through a range of activities which includes multi sports projects, community engagement activities and education. The Gurdwara has been running many of its projects in partnership with national governing bodies.

We thrive to reach our potential to meet the needs of the locality in an area which is rich in different faiths and cultures. Families face many challenges including financial hardship, social isolation, unemployment and poor health/nutrition.

Our large group of volunteers have exceeded all expectations, especially during the covid-19 pandemic, by providing PPE, food and basic items to the community and also staying in touch with all groups to promote emotional support and well-being. Our volunteers have received national recognition for their continued hard work and recently one of the volunteers received England’s Lionheart Squad award (second only to Captain Sir Tom Moore).
